Piergiuseppe Morone è Professore Ordinario di Politica Economica e Prorettore alla Ricerca presso Unitelma Sapienza. La sua attività di ricerca si concentra sull’innovazione verde e sulla bioeconomia circolare, all’intersezione tra economia dell’innovazione e transizioni verso la sostenibilità . I suoi lavori sono regolarmente pubblicati sulle principali riviste di economia dell’innovazione e di economia ambientale. Nel 2023 ha pubblicato The Circular Bioeconomy: Theories and Tools for Economists and Sustainability Scientists (Cambridge University Press).
È Coordinatore del Bioeconomy in Transition Research Group (BiT-RG) e Direttore della Scuola di Alta Formazione sulla Sostenibilità e l’Economia Circolare (SUSTAIN). Ha ricoperto ruoli di primo piano in numerosi progetti europei (H2020, BBI-JU, LIFE, Erasmus+, COST, Horizon Europe, CBE-JU), è stato Consigliere Economico del Ministro dell’Ambiente italiano fino a febbraio 2021 e svolge attività di consulenza per organizzazioni internazionali, tra cui l’OCSE e l’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità (OMS).
Piergiuseppe Morone è Editor-in-Chief di Societal Impacts e Associate Editor di Cleaner and Circular Bioeconomy (Elsevier). Dall’aprile 2022 è Vicepresidente del Comitato Scientifico della Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU).
Short bio
Piergiuseppe Morone is Full Professor of Economic Policy and Vice Rector for Research at Unitelma Sapienza. His research focuses on green innovation and the sustainable circular bioeconomy at the intersection of innovation economics and sustainability transitions. His work is widely published in leading innovation and environmental economics journals. In 2023, he authored The Circular Bioeconomy: Theories and Tools for Economists and Sustainability Scientists (Cambridge University Press).
He is Coordinator of the Bioeconomy in Transition Research Group (BiT-RG) and Director of the School of Sustainability Studies and Circular Economy (SUSTAIN). He has held leading roles in several European projects (H2020, BBI-JU, LIFE, Erasmus+, COST, Horizon Europe, CBE-JU), served as Economic Advisor to the Italian Minister of the Environment until February 2021, and acts as a consultant for international organizations, including the OECD and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Piergiuseppe Morone is Editor-in-Chief of Societal Impacts and Associate Editor of Cleaner and Circular Bioeconomy (Elsevier). Since April 2022, he has been Vice-Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU).
