Short bio

Delfina Gomes is Associate Professor with Habilitation at the School of Economics, Management and Political Science, University of Minho. Her main research fields of research are Accounting as a Social Practice and Accounting History. The main research projects are: Accounting and Religion; Accounting and War; Accounting and the State; Accounting Profession; and Accounting and Sustainability. She has published in academic journals such as Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, European Accounting Review, Accounting History, and Accounting Education. She is on the editorial board of Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Accounting History, among other international journals. She is active in refereeing articles for a number of leading accounting journals. She was awarded with the prize from the Academy of Accounting Historians – 2009 Margit F. Schoenfeld and Hanns Martin W. Schoenfeld Scholarship in Accounting History.

 

Visiting activity

The collaboration between the University of Minho and the Department of Law and Economics (DSGE) at Unitelma Sapienza – University of Rome focuses on advancing mutual research interests in the fields of accounting history and accounting as a social practice. During her visiting period, Professor Delfina Gomes will contribute to the academic dialogue on the social, cultural, and institutional dimensions of accounting. As part of her activities, she will deliver a seminar dedicated to research methods in accounting and to current trends shaping contemporary scholarship in the discipline. The visit also aims to strengthen research networks and foster future collaborations between the two institutions in areas such as accounting and sustainability, the accounting profession, and the role of accounting in society.
