The Master’s Degree Course in Economy, Technology, and Innovation aims to train highly qualified professionals with advanced interdisciplinary skills capable of addressing issues related to business management. It integrates knowledge from economic-business studies with insights from law and quantitative methods. The Master’s Degree Course in Economy, Technology, and Innovation has a special focus on the management of innovation and aims at training students to operate in complex systems where technological processes intersect with economic and organizational ones.

Objectives

The Master’s Degree Course in Economy, Technology, and Innovation aims to provide an in-depth education in business management, integrating knowledge from multiple disciplines. Building on the foundational knowledge gained in undergraduate business studies, the course seeks to develop second-level graduates with extensive and specific skills in economic business, statistical-mathematical, and legal fields.
The course’s purpose is to train professionals capable of driving change and innovation, equipped to operate and manage complex systems where technological processes intersect with economic and organizational ones. Additional specific training objectives include preparing highly skilled experts to work in public and private organizations focused on sustainable innovation and certification processes, with a strong emphasis on the economic business profile.
Graduates of this Master’s Degree Course will possess:

• an interdisciplinary knowledge based on a training course which blends and applies economics, managerial, legal and quantitative approaches to innovation studies;
• advanced knowledge in these areas through the application of quantitative formalization techniques and an international and intercultural perspective;
• proper knowledge and skills to hold positions of responsibility in business administration and governance.

Knowledge and understanding

The Master’s Degree program provides fundamental conceptual and technical tools to understand the functioning of production systems and innovation management. It offers access to a range of courses that enhance knowledge of the economy and the innovation system, facilitating professional integration into the business sector and, furthermore, a combination of courses belonging to different disciplines that allow students to enrich their interdisciplinary background.

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding

The CLEMI graduate will have acquired the foundational knowledge necessary to apply their expertise in businesses, national and international research centres, and policy support think-tanks. Graduate students will be able to apply techniques that support innovative business activities and economic and industrial policies. To achieve this, the program is designed to ensure an adequate integration of theory and practice, and this approach enables graduates to apply their knowledge professionally, solve economics problems, and develop and defend arguments within their field of study.

Autonomy of judgment

The interdisciplinary approach of this course ensures that graduates develop a critical perspective on the market in which they are going to operate. This critical viewpoint enables graduate students to understand the main requirements coming from different stakeholders and to formulate independent judgments regarding both the strategies to implement and the solutions for managing processes generated by innovations, including technological ones.

Comunication skills

The graduate of the Master’s Degree Course possesses versatile communication skills, capable of conveying information and solutions to both specialists and non-specialists from different backgrounds. Moreover, the graduate must also demonstrate the ability to work in teams, sensitivity to listening and processing others’ opinions.

Learning ability

The learning abilities will be assessed to ensure that the student, upon completion of their studies, achieves a level of maturity and acquired knowledge that allows them to operate both in specialised and innovative work contexts and to pursue further studies at a higher level (second-level university master’s or doctoral level).

All the above-mentioned objectives are achieved through Unitelma Sapienza’s “digital classes” model, delivered via the university’s e-learning platform (audio-video lessons integrated with indexed documents, MP3 audio streaming/downloading). The program also includes exercises, individual study, tutoring, synchronous web seminars, and other forms of cooperative learning, addressing specific topics to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired during lessons. The assessment of this knowledge will be conducted through in person ongoing and final exams as well as through the preparation of the final thesis. Exams may be written and/or oral. These assessments are designed to evaluate the candidate’s degree of independent judgment.

Admission requirements

In order to be eligible to apply, you need to hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by an accredited Italian or foreign university. You must have completed a minimum of 3 years at the University level, having obtained at least 180 ECTS.
In case you obtained the high school diploma after 10 or 11 years of schooling, be aware that the Italian system requires at least 12 years of previous education.

Candidates are expected to have achieved a three-year bachelor’s degree attaining to the classes of “Laurea Triennale” (a bachelor’s degree) according to the Italian Ministerial Decree D.M. 270/04:

• L-18 Economics and Management and L-33 Economics according to the Italian Ministerial Decree ex D.M. 270/04;
• L-17 Economics and Management and L-28 Economics according to the Italian Ministerial Decree ex D.M. 509/99
• An equivalent Italian qualification running under the previous degree programme system (i.e. the “four-year” course degree)

In case of undergraduate degrees not attaining the bachelor’s degree classes mentioned above, the student must have obtained, by the date of the application, a total amount of 50 ECTS into the specific scientific-disciplinary sectors (SDS) such as:

• Business SDS (at least 15 ECTS credits):
  SECS-P/07 Business Administration SECS-P/08 Economics and Management SECS-P/09 Corporate Finance SECS-P/10 Business organisation SECS-P/11 Financial Institutions Management
• Economics SDS (at least 15 ECTS credits):
  SECS-P/01 Political Economics SECS-P/02 Economic Politics SECS-P/03 Public Finance SECS-P/05 Econometrics SECS-P/06 Applied Economics SECS-P/12 Economic History
• Mathematics-Statistics SDS (at least 15 ECTS credits):
  SECS-S/01 Statistics SECS-S/03 Economic Statistics SECS-S/06 Financial Mathematical Methods
• Law SDS (at least 5 ECTS credits):
  any Law SDS.

For international bachelor’s degrees, the Admission Committee will evaluate the correspondence between the Italian scientific-disciplinary sectors mentioned above and the disciplinary field of exams taken in the non-Italian University.
A B2 Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) English level is required for admission. Students must provide a Certificate of English issued by an accredited language institution. If you lack a language certificate, the Admission Committee will assess your language skills with a brief interview or through a questionnaire. Enrolling on the Master’s.

Students who do not meet the curricular requirements for access to our Master’s Degree Courses can supplement their curriculum with university exams (single courses) before enrolling.
